Piedmont baseball downs Duncan in close contest

Wildcats win 5-3, play in finals Thursday

The Piedmont Wildcats baseball team advanced to the finals Wednesday by beating Duncan 5-3 Wednesday night at F&M Bank Stadium.

The team won two games in the Class 5A-2 district tournament.

Earlier in the day, the Wildcats jumped to an early lead against Ardmore and didn’t let up in the first game.

Piedmont will play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Piedmont High School baseball field.

Piedmont’s Caleb Lunnon was on the mound pitching for the Wildcats to open against Duncan.

In the game against Ardmore, pitcher Dalton Hampton allowed just two hits in the first five innings.

Piedmont won 10-0 over Ardmore in five innings.

Guymon lost to Duncan 21-1.

Piedmont will play the winner of the Guymon and Duncan game at 4 p.m. at the Piedmont baseball field near the middle school.
