Piedmont clinches a spot as a regional host

The Piedmont Wildcats baseball team had redemption on their mind Tuesday when they arrived at Squires Baseball Field in Guthrie.

Senior Bo Phelps put the team on his back and pitched a tw0-hit shutout to clinch a spot as a regional host.

When asked about his team, Coach Adam Skokowski said, “These guys have battled all year long and don’t have any quit in them. We needed this win and the guys stepped up and played great”

The Blue Jays were in Piedmont on Monday night for the first night of this home and home contest.

The game was a tight contest and went into extra innings with Guthrie winning by a run in the eighth inning.

Tuesday was a different story though as Senior Bo Phelps took the mound and didn’t allow any runs, holding the Jays to only 2 hits.

The cats were led at the plate by Junior Cole Riggs with 3 hits. Senior Dillon Dibrell, Junior Dax Priddy and Sophomore Dalton Hampton also added to the Cats offense. The Cats are next in action at Tulsa Union on Friday, April 23.
