Wildcats win second game of district tournament

An RBI single shot off the left field wall by Tayvin Davis scored two runs in the fourth inning and lifted Piedmont to a lead in the regional tournament against Lawton MacArthur Thursday night.

The team didn’t look back and won in the fifth inning by the run rule.

Lawton MacArthur had taken a 3-2 lead against the host team in the Class 5A Regional Tournament before the Wildcats struck back. Teagan Honer had a double in the inning and Piedmont was on the way to win the game 13-3.

The team came from behind in a 9 run 4th inning.
Paige Atha hit a home run in the second inning  but Lawton Mac bounced back in the third.  The fourth inning was all cats.  Five players had singles and senior Teagan Honer hit a double to power a 9-run inning.
Payten Schibbelhute drove in two runs in the fifth inning as the Wildcats opened up the bats.
The Lady Cats will be in the finals at 2 p.m. Friday against the winner of the noon game between Lawton MacArthur and Del City.

Piedmont won their first game to advance.

In Piedmont’s first game, Morgan Meiwes hit an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning against Santa Fe South, and Lauren Yowell scored from third base to end the game by the run rule 10-0.

Lawton MacArthur defeated Del City in the second game 11-6.
