The 6-1 Piedmont Wildcats headed to Crain Family Stadium at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee for a Thursday night, Oct. 19, game against the 2-5 Wolves in a Class 5A District 2 matchup.
Piedmont led 41-0 at the half. The final score was 55-0.
Piedmont won the opening coin toss and elected to receive and fire up the offense right away. Seth Shelton took the kickoff and returned it 40 yards into Shawnee territory. A few plays later and Cannon Wood took the ball into the end zone on an 18-yard run through a less than solid Shawnee defense.
Shawnee converted a fourth down near midfield on their first drive behind running back Dace Shaw. A Talan Owen sack put Shawnee back in their own territory and their drive stalled.
Piedmont was able to run the ball at will. A Jayden Huston 5-yard TD run on a jet sweep gave Piedmont a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Mikah Rocco caught a 25-yard TD pass from quarterback Josh Mars for a 21-0 led with 7:05 left in the second quarter.
The next time Piedmont touched the ball, Cannon Wood ran into the secondary without being touched, and then stiff-armed a defender several times on a 67-yard TD jaunt.
The Wildcats were coming off a bye week that followed a victory over Lawton Eisenhower Oct. 6. Piedmont was blown out by Guthrie Sept. 29. Guthrie, ranked #2, faced #1-ranked Carl Albert Thursday night at Jelsma Stadium, The Rock, in Guthrie.
Guthrie was leading Carl Albert 14-0 in the second quarter of that game but the Bluejays lost 24-21 to the Titans.

The Shawnee Wolves lost to Lawton Eisenhower 60-31 Friday, Oct. 13.
