Piedmont sales tax revenue is up again

The sales tax revenue for October was up for the City of Piedmont, the Oklahoma Tax Commission reports. 

The sales tax revenue disbursement, primarily generated from August sales, was $342,957 in October 2023 compared to $276,060 in October 2022. That is an increase of $66,897 or 24.23%.

The use tax revenue for October was also up. The use tax for October was $111,878 compared to $103,105 in October 2022. That is an increase of $8,773 or 8.50%.

Also, the sales tax revenue for September 2023 was up in Piedmont.

City Manager Josh Williams said people shopping locally helped make the increase.

The report from the tax commission shows Piedmont sales tax revenue was $272,692 in September compared to $233,568 for September 2022, an increase of $39,124, or 16.7%.

Piedmont use tax was also up in September. Piedmont received $135,112 for September 2023 compared to $130,629 in September 2022, a 3.4% increase.

In August, Piedmont’s sales tax was $273,706 compared to $269,598 in August 2022, an increase of 1.52%. The use tax revenue in August was $110,626 compared to $94,890 in August 2022.

“Keep shopping local,” Williams said at a September city council meeting.
