A construction company has submitted the winning bid for the Surrey Hills Elementary School addition, and Yukon School Board members approved the bid at the Dec. 6 board meeting.

The low base bid of $3,595,000 was submitted by TCS Construction Company LLC. This low base bid is in addition to $44,000 for classrooms for a total bid from TCS of $3,639,500, according to district officials.

The school, located at 10700 Hastings Drive in Oklahoma City limits, has a Yukon mailing address and is in the Yukon Public Schools district.

The work at the school site will be completed by June 1, 2023, according to a letter from TCS to Yukon Superintendent Dr. Jason Simeroth.

Simeroth said the bid came in about $1.4 million less than anticipated.

We were pleasantly surprised,” Simeroth said at the Dec. 6 school board meeting at Redstone Intermediate School.

The plan is to build nine rooms at the school, with four storm shelters included, Simeroth said.

Also work will be done on the drop-off line driveway with a transportation loop to alleviate traffic congestion.

The Yukon school district is using leftover funds from its 2007 bond issue combined with building fund money to construct nine new classrooms at Surrey Hills Elementary, which has grown significantly since then, district officials have reported.
