Greg Duffy, a longtime Piedmont resident and current school board member in Piedmont Public Schools, has been honored as a distinguished Southeastern Oklahoma State University alum.

Duffy has been recognized for his contributions to the State of Oklahoma’s conservation efforts. Duffy is a former executive director of the Oklahoma Wildlife Department.

Duffy, who graduated in 1973, served as wildlife director for 16 years before he retired in 2009.

“I am truly honored to receive this award. However, I consider it a privilege to have spent my career serving the constituents of the State of Oklahoma, and I certainly credit any successes to the department employees and outdoor enthusiasts for whom I served.”

During a 38-year career with the department, he combined his biological and management training with “exceptional logistical and people skills to make contributions to the conservation of Oklahoma’s wildlife resources and environment.

“We increased public land access by 80,00 acres, introduced striped bass in Southern Oklahoma, and provided wildlife education to hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans, amongst many other accomplishments.”

Duffy will be honored during the SEOSU 2021 Homecoming Oct. 15-Oct. 16.

Duffy will be recognized at the Distinguished Awards Banquet on Friday, Oct. 15, and again the following day during pre-game ceremonies at the Southeastern-Northwestern football game.

Duffy is currently the Piedmont School Board deputy clerk and board member for Ward III.

“I grew up in Kingfisher County, graduated from Southeastern in Durant, and have spent the last 43 years in Piedmont. I love our state. Whether serving at the state-level as the Executive Director of ODWC, or now at the local-level as a Piedmont School Board Member, I’ve always taken great pride in serving the people of Oklahoma with honesty and transparency,” Duffy said.
