Lady Wildcats win Shawnee Tournament as winning streak reaches 11 games

SHAWNEE – Make it 11 straight.

Piedmont’s softball team continued its early season tear by winning four games at the Shawnee Tournament to take the title there and run its winning streak to 11 games.

PHS (14-1) hammered Red Oak 8-1 this afternoon to clinch the title after cruising past Shawnee 8-4 earlier today.

The Lady Wildcats beat Durant 4-3 in eight innings in their first game on Thursday then rallied to edge Pryor 8-7 later that evening.

Piedmont 8, Red Oak 1
Payten Schibbelhute
pitched a complete game while scattering seven hits and striking out two as Piedmont built a 4-0 lead after three innings.

Karissa Fiegener homered and drove in four runs to boost her team-leading RBI total to 22. She has four homers on the year, also best on the team.

Piedmont 8, Shawnee 4
The Lady ‘Cats led 8-0 after 4 1/2 innings and coasted home for the win.

Hannah Nieuwenhuis pitched 3.1 innings in relief with three strikeouts to earn the win in the circle.

Piedmont 8, Pryor 7
Piedmont posted single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to rally from a 7-6 deficit and Schibbelhute pitched a scoreless inning to earn the save. 

Piedmont 4, Durant 3
Peyton Gray
delivered a walk-off, two-RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give Piedmont the win.
