Robert Lee Moore, 66, of Piedmont, died Tuesday, July 7 at his home.
Moore was born October 12, 1953 in Shawnee, Oklahoma the son of Robert Harrison and Bertie Lee (Little) Moore.
A Santa send off for Robert L. “Santa Bob’ Moore, age 66, of Piedmont, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020 in the New Hope United Methodist Church, 11600 N Council Road, Oklahoma City with J.D. Ward officiating.
Bob spent his early childhood years in the Shawnee, Tecumseh and the Greater OKC area before moving to California residing in the Los Angeles area until he was nine years old. He returned to Oklahoma where he completed his education and began working at the young age of 14. Bob enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1974 serving two years before being Honorably Discharged in 1976.
Bob was united in marriage to Miss Bernice “Bunny” Wilson on November 21, 1972 in Oklahoma City. Bob and Bunny enjoyed many wonderful years together raising their two children, Michael Steven and Michelle Elaine. Bob spent many years on the road as a truck driver retiring in 2012. Bob found his calling playing Santa Claus in the 1980s and entertained and loved on countless children for the next 30 years. Bunny remained by his side every step of the way playing the role as “Mrs. Claus.” Bunny was instrumental in creating and hand sewing all of Santa Bob’s suits making sure that he had the perfect Santa Claus suit for every occasion. Bunny passed away on their 42nd wedding anniversary, November 21, 2014.
Bob met Rose Marie Smith in 2016 and they later married on June 1, 2018 in Maui, Hawaii. Although they were married two short years, Bob and Rose Marie made a lot of wonderful memories together traveling and visiting family and friends. Rose Marie took up the “Mrs. Claus” role too and instantly fell in love with being by her “Santa Bob’s” side as they traveled Oklahoma entertaining children (and yes adults too!).
Bob was a member of the New Hope United Methodist of Oklahoma City; the International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santas (IBRBS); Real Bearded Santas of Oklahoma; the Colonel Colt’s Gun Company; Westport Posse; Gunsmoke and Petticoats and Tumbleweeds.
In addition to his wife, Bunny, Bob was preceded in death by one son, Robert Lee Moore, Jr in infancy.
Bob is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Moore of the home in Piedmont; one son, Michael Steven Moore and his wife, Michelle “Mitch” of Redlands, CA; three daughters, Michelle Elaine (Moore) Alzoubi of Raymoore, MO, Sarah Apple of El Reno, OK and Hanah Royal and her husband, Josh of Hinton, OK; one brother, Willis Thomas Moore and his wife, Paula of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Rose Davis of Oklahoma City, Jeanette McCarson of Guthrie, OK and Sharon Cain of Missouri; seven grandchildren, Brian Moore, Melissa Royal, Josh Levy, Daisy Moore, Chloe Moore, Gabby Royal and Asher Royal; and three great grandchildren.
