Piedmont looking for first win under Hall against El Reno

STILLWATER – It has been a rainy start to Piedmont’s season, but after over two weeks off due to bad weather, the Wildcats picked right back up where they started.

The Cats (3-1, 1-0) scored in every inning, racking up 13 runs on 13 hits in a 13-1 five-inning run rule win over Class 6A Stillwater (4-6) Tuesday on the road. The win came on the heels of a rained out district game against Del City and a pair of rained out tournaments at Shawnee and in St. Louis, Mo.

Piedmont got things going with two runs in the top of the first inning. Senior Kennedi Morelock led off with a single before scoring on a single by senior Rikki Hadley. After a hit by pitch drawn by senior Chloe Bohuslavicky, senior Ashlyn Brown singled to load the bases. Senior Cozee Clark followed with a walk, scoring Hadley for a 2-0 lead.

The Cats tacked on three more in the top of the second and three again in the top of the third for a 8-1 lead.

Senior Sydney Kozikoski reached on an error to lead off the second and later scored on a double steal. Morelock followed with a single and scored on as senior Jordan Collins reached on an error for a 4-0 lead. Two batters later Bohuslavicky crushed a solo home run to left to extend the lead to 5-0.

Stillwater cut the lead to 5-1 before Clark got things going again for Piedmont in the top of the third with a single, later scoring as Kozikoski reached on an error. Kozikoski scored on a single by Morelock, who later scored on en error for a 8-1 lead. Morelock finished 3-for-4 with three runs, Clark finished 2-for-2 with a walk and Kozikoski finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Piedmont addedd to its lead in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs.

Bohuslavicky reached on an error with one out and later scored as Rowland reached on an error. Rowland moved to second on a single by Clark and then scored on a single by Kozikoski after a walk to senior Ellie Griffin for a 10-1 advantage.

The Cats plated three more in the fifth to all but seal the win.

Collins and Hadley led off with back-to-back singles, Collins later scoring on an error. Brown followed with an RBI single to score Hadley before scoring on a double by Rowland for a 13-1 lead. Hadley finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Collins and Rowland were held to one hit apiece.

Bohuslavicky recorded the complete game victory, allowing one earned run on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts over five innings.
