Piedmont’s volleyball team got off to a hot start, opening the season with a three-set win over Del City at Piedmont Intermediate School.
The Wildcats played their first match under new head coach Tom Williams and dominated the Eagles with 23 kills and 19 aces.
Jada Ellis and Aleeyah Hamblin led the way with six kills apiece while Kaylie Marshall and Gracie Myatt finished with four each. Joanna Hunter finished with two kills and Lily Humphries finished with one.
The service game was on point for Piedmont as Hunter led the way with nine aces. Shelby Willy finished with five, Myatt and Layla Rallo finished with two apiece. Hunter led the team with 13 assists as well while Heather Houston finished with nine.
Defensively Ellis finished with three blocks while Hamblin finished with two. Humphries and Marshall each finished with one block.
The Wildcats look to improve to 2-0 tonight as they host Mt. St. Mary’s at home at 6 p.m. at Piedmont Intermediate School.
The Cats host a pair of home matches next week against Noble and Hertiage Hall before hitting the road for their first tournament at Carl Albert.
