SHAWNEE – The Cats couldn’t find there way at the plate, scattering four hits in a 4-0 loss to Pryor in the 2018 State Tournament semifinals Wednesday at the Firelake Ballfields.
Olivia Rains, future Oklahoma Sooner, shut Piedmont down with 10 strikeouts and two walks from the circle, throwing 97 pitches on her way to helping the Tigers punch their ticket to the finals.
Jade Rowland, Chloe Bohuslavicky, Ashlyn Brown and Cozee Clark each singled off Rains.
Brown’s single came in the top of the second inning while the other three came in the final two innings as the Cats tried to spark a rally. All but two hitters in the Cats’ lineup struck out at least once and the team left six runners on base.
Bohuslavicky pitched well, allowing just one earned run due to three errors by Piedmont defensively, leading to three unearned runs. She allowed eight hits with three walks and six strikeouts while throwing 105 pitches.
Mikayla Hillman led the way for Pryor at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and walk.
Rains also doubled and walked while Rhett Looney and Madison Burroughs each singled with an RBI apiece.
Piedmont finishes the season 29-6 overall with a district championship. The team graduates four seniors, Tori McNabb, Tara Hibbler, Molly McDermott and Addyson Estes.
