Senior night is special, even more so when you only have one senior, but when that senior scores her 1000th career point on senior night, it is cause for celebration.  In a moment that will be etched into Lady Wildcats history, senior Rylie Burnett achieved an incredible milestone, scoring her 1,000th career point on Senior Night against Edmond Santa Fe Friday, Feb. 14th. With that basket, she became the first Lady Wildcat to ever reach the prestigious mark, cementing her legacy in the program.

For Burnett, the lone senior on the team, the night was about more than just personal accomplishments. She has spent the past four years as a leader—one who leads by example rather than by words. Humble and unassuming, she has always been more focused on her team’s success than her own accolades.

“I try to glorify God in everything I do,” Burnett said. “I am thankful for the opportunity to play and I am thankful for my teammates who helped me reach 1,000 points. My goal is to win basketball games. I started my high school career as a defender and distributor, and I was happy to play that role just like I have been happy to take on the main scoring role the last two years.”

Burnett’s journey has been one of transformation. She began as a traditional point guard, tasked with managing the game and setting up her teammates to score. Over time, she evolved into the primary offensive weapon, becoming the player opposing teams had to game-plan against. Her impact on the team goes far beyond scoring. Head Coach Joe Crawford has witnessed her growth firsthand and praises her all-around abilities.“Her skill sets have changed over the years. She’s one of the most complete players I’ve ever coached,” Crawford said. “She jumps center, I run sets for her, she’ll guard the best players even if they are posts or guards. She will have double-digit rebounding games and double-digit assists. She sets the tone for our team. So glad to see her get to the 1,000-point club!”

On a night meant to celebrate her senior season, Burnett delivered a performance that reflected everything she has meant to the program. While the crowd erupted for her historic bucket, she remained the same player she has always been—focused, determined, and ready for whatever comes next.

For Burnett, the milestone is just another step in her journey. Her true legacy lies in the way she has inspired her teammates, set the standard for the program, and led the Lady Wildcats with quiet confidence. The 1,000-point mark is a remarkable achievement, but for those who have watched her play, it is merely a reflection of the dedication and excellence she has brought to the court for four years.  Well done Riley – We are going to miss you!
