The Piedmont High School cross country teams under Coach Kelly Beck continue to tear up the tracks from Piedmont to Arkansas.
Tonight, Friday, Oct. 4, they head over to Deer Creek for some shorter distance competitions.
The girls are getting national recognition too. According to Dyestat’s national cross-country rankings for Oct. 3, 2024, Piedmont girls rank 27th in the nation. The cross-country team ranked #1 was Mountain Vista High School in Colorado.
At the recent Chili Pepper XC Festival at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the Piedmont girls and boys showed off their stamina. The girls’ team had a second-place overall finish behind Rogers High School of Arkansas. The boys’ team had a fourth-place overall finish.
In the girls’ 5000 meter run finals Piedmont’s Brooke Collins finished 11th, with an individual time of 18:06.70.
Claire Collins finished 14th, 18:13.60.
Tayten Childres finished 24th, 18:46.40.
Anna Caldwell finished 28th, 18:47.50.
Emily Caldwell finished 32nd, 18:53.10.
Lily Scheck, 66th, 19:23.10.
Preslie Finch, 79th, 19:32.40.

Boys results
In the boys’ fourth place overall team results, Riley Pauley finished 32nd individually in the 5K run with a time of 16:04.00.
Nelin Kimery finished 47th, 16:13.4.
Will Stoltzfus finished 61st, 5:12.1.
Connor Coffman finished 100th, 16:40.4.
Jackson Scott, 132nd, 16:53.2.
Beckam Humes, 146th, 16:59.6.

Deer Creek meet Oct. 4
The teams will head over to the Deer Creek High School’s inaugural Big Friendly XC Invitational Meet Friday, Oct. 4.
The JV girls 1 mile run is at 5:55 p.m. JV boys 1 mile is at 6:05 p.m.
The ninth and tenth grad girls 2-mile run is 6:15 p.m. followed by the ninth and tenth grade boys at 6:30 p.m.
The 11th and 12th grade girls will run at 6:45 p.m. and the 11th and 12th grade boys will run at 7 p.m.
The 6A state championship meet is ahead Nov. 2 at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
