A future hitting and pitching baseball and softball training facility will bear the name of the local bank partner that is already on the football scoreboard nearby.

The Piedmont School Board voted unanimously Monday, Aug. 12, to grant the naming rights to a future baseball project.

F&M Bank President Eric Anderson said, “F&M Bank is honored to be a long-time partner with Piedmont Public Schools.”

F&M Bank has offered $250,000 matching grant toward such a project to be built.

Superintendent Drew Eichelberger commented about the news at the board meeting.

“I’m pretty proud to tell you that F&M Bank has come through for Piedmont Public Schools again,” Eichelberger said. “They have offered a quarter of a million to name the hitting facility. F&M Bank has been an incredible partner in this district and continues to be and that is what this is about,” Eichelberger told board members.

School Board President Layne Jones said the bank paid for the scoreboard and the football stadium also bears the F&M Bank name.

“Everything else they have done for the school and community has to be noted. It is greatly appreciated,” Jones said.

Board members Katie Cornman, Derek Jones, Neal Cast and Jerrod Moser voted in favor of the facility naming rights.

Piedmont’s F&M Bank Stadium will host a home opener for the Wildcats this year against Norman at 7 p.m. Sept. 20.
