As the outside world watches the images of Republican National Convention from inside the rockin’ out in red arena in Milwaukee, the Oklahoma delegates had seats close to former President Donald Trump.

Jeramy Carnes, Canadian County Republican Party chair, is with his daughter Savannah, 22, in the convention, and they sat each night about 100 feet from former President Trump, the Republican Party nominee who is expected by everyone from the Oklahoma delegation and in the building to be the next U.S. President.

“At the convention here the people are electrified,” Carnes said Thursday morning from his hotel near the airport. It was his first chance to take a break with the whirlwind of events and the overwhelming power of the emotions and developments, he said.

“The people are electrified. The excitement level is over the top. After each speaker you wonder how anyone can top it and then the next speaker does.”

Stories of veterans and soldiers lost brought tears Wednesday night, he said.

“The momentum is building,” Carnes said.

His seat was so close to Trump that many of the media photographers are crowding the area at times, but he said he has taken plenty of pictures.

“We have a very good view of where Trump sits where we are sitting. It is hard to get in and out of our area where the Oklahoma Delegation is. I couldn’t get back to my seat at times. The security here is really serious, of course there is security level after security level, there has to be after last week.”

Carnes said he did not to watch the outside news, and he knows experienced things from a completely different perspective than the viewers at home. He does not hear the TV commentators when it is live in front of him, he said. He did not know about the shooting of a homeless man wielding knives in each hand gunned down by out-of-town police, as reported outside the arena this week when that happened.

Savannah Carnes, who is very active in the Republican Party, got a chance to meet Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Gov. Stitt has also been seen, he said.

On Thursday night, Trump spoke in his first address to the nation since the Saturday assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
