Jennifer Smith, Piedmont city clerk and treasurer, was recognized Monday, Nov. 27 by the Piedmont city manager and council for two decades of service.

City Manager Josh Williams talked about her 20 years of service during a presentation with her family members in the audience at the Piedmont city council meeting.

“It was the year (2003) Jennifer Smith was hired by the City of Piedmont,” Williams said. “Over those 20 years Jennifer has done it all. Although not certified as a firefighter or police officer she has no doubt put out a lot of fires and probably wishes she could have handcuffed a few people.”

Smith joined Williams at the podium in front of the council as Williams finished the presentation.

“Jennifer’s co-workers have described her as loyal, laid back, family-oriented, team-oriented, a good listener, supportive, caring. She makes herself available and is calming in the chaos,” Williams said. “Jennifer seeks self improvement professionally and personally. She is dependable and has been the glue that has kept it all together.”

Smith has even served as an interim city manager during her tenure.

“She is constantly committed to her work and our organization,” Williams said.
