Piedmont head football coach Jeff Hall didn’t have to go too far to find the Wildcats next offensive coordinator.

Hall and Piedmont went a few miles down Highway 4 to nab Yukon High School offensive coordinator Keenan Kellett. Kellett, who has served in that role at YHS since 2017, replaces Aaron Dillard who left Piedmont to be head coach at Purcell.

Kellett confirmed the move via his Twitter account on Tuesday.

“I’ve always been a firm believer in the saying everything happens for a reason. When my wife and I first came to Yukon, we were ecstatic for a new adventure of living in a different place and working at the same school district,” Kellett wrote. “After six years, I can honestly say I have grown immensely as a teacher and coach. I am forever grateful for the opportunity, colleagues, students and players I have met during my time at Yukon Public Schools.

“With that being said, I have accepted the offensive coordinator position at Piedmont High School and look forward to being a part of an amazing culture and program. Go Wildcats!”

With quarterback Josh Mars and running backs Cannon Wood and Israel Robles returning next season, Piedmont is gearing up for a big season following a trip to the Class 5A quarterfinals in 2022.

At Yukon, Kellett and the Millers ran a triple option attack that is not unlike the flexbone offense that Piedmont has used since Hall took over at PHS in 2019, and will employ again in 2023.

Hall and Kellett coached together on the YHS staff for two seasons.

A 2010 graduate of Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Ill., Kellett holds the Northern Illinois Conference records for passing yards and passing touchdowns and also holds the Harlem High School records for total passing yards, single-game passing yards, career passing yards (2,419) and career touchdown passes (31.)
