Piedmont Middle School student Autumn Geiger spent her spring break competing in Tennessee at the North American Country Music Association International competition.

At the conclusion, the seventh grader walked away with top honors – Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year – Youth in the Traditional Country category.

It was Geiger’s second time participating in the competition and her second time winning those categories, a feat she first accomplished in 2019.

“I appreciate everyone’s support during the competition,” Geiger said. “My teachers and friends have been cheering me on all the way. I was eager to get back at it after a two-year break in the competition due to COVID.”

Geiger began singing when she was 5 years old, starting with a kindergarten talent show. She would go on to sign up for vocal and keyboard lessons at the School of Rock. She has performed with Edmond’s School of Rick since she was 7 years old.

“Singing is my passion,” she said. “It makes my heart happy and I love to share my music with others. I appreciate my coaches at the School of Rock in Edmond. I had to learn how to yodel for this competition, so that was challenging.”

Geiger is a member of the Oklahoma Country Music Singers Association of Oklahoma. She is next set to perform April 2 at Oklahoma Rodeo Opry. The performance will be recorded and replayed on HANK-FM (97.7) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 10.
