DEL CITY – Jillian Crawford scored 16 points and Ella Watkins made a key defensive stop in the final minute as seventh-ranked Piedmont won at No. 5 Del City, 40-39, Tuesday night.

Watkins’ steal in the final seconds completed a fourth-quarter comeback for the Lady Wildcats, who trailed by six with five minutes to go.

“Our kids made some plays down the stretch and did a great job defensively,” head coach Eric Carr said. “This is one of the games we’ve been losing all year, but we found a way this time.”

Khloe Carr scored 10 points and had a crucial 3-pointer in Piedmont’s late rally. Crawford delivered the go-ahead jumper in the final minutes as PHS improved to 9-10 overall and completed a season sweep of the Eagles.

Though Piedmont’s postseason draw is already set, the Lady Wildcats have games with Shawnee, Noble and Guthrie left before heading to regionals in El Reno. A full postseason bracket is set to be released later today.

“We want to finish the regular season going 4-0,” Carr said. “We still have something to play for in our minds.”
