Leona was born to parents Melville and Ava Long on July 8, 1927, in Piedmont where she grew up and graduated as the Salutatorian in May of 1945. Leona’s hard work ethic promoted her as a Manager at the Milton Bates Shoe Factory for over 30 years. Lovingly called “Ma” by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her favorite past time was spending time with her family. Leona will be missed by all who knew her and loved her dearly.
