ENID — Piedmont’s wrestling team competed in the prestigious Mid-American National Duals in Enid last week, taking 14th in a field of 36 talented teams from across the state.
The Wildcats wrestled four freshmen and four sophomores as part of their lineup. Here are five of Piedmont’s top performers from the two-day event.

Cash Donnell
The 113-pound sophomore continued his early season tear by compiling a 7-0 record en route to winning his division. Donnell came up clutch in his championship match by notching a takedown in the final seconds to erase a small deficit.

Barrett Byers
Byers went 5-1 and finished fifth overall. Like Donnell, Byers used some late magic in his final match on Saturday, earning a four-point takedown that secured a victory.

Makavelli Ramirez
Ramirez won his pool and finished 7-1 overall, falling in the quarterfinals at 195 pounds. He closed on a high note, though, with a late reversal that swayed a tight match in his favor in the final seconds of the third period.

Alan Flores
At 138 pounds, Flores went 5-3 and took ninth overall. That might not sound impressive, but in a loaded field, it’s an accomplishment to place in the top 10.

Ian Mitchell
One of four freshmen in the lineup, Mitchell won four of eight matches while wrestling at a weight (145) usually reserved for more experienced wrestlers.
