At the finish line of the Piedmont Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day were many winners in many ways. The Bright Sky Ministry fundraiser for foster families in Oklahoma raised thousands of dollars and had hundreds of runners in-person and virtually.

The event raised $20,000 and there were 425 people who signed up this year, organizers said.

There were two people in the 5K race who ran faster than everyone else and the top finishers have been reported.

The overall male winner was Ryan Doupe with a time of 19:07.85. The top female was Piedmont High School cross country runner Rachel Caldwell, 21:.04.17, organizers reported.

Organizer Keri Layton said the cold weather didn’t hold back too many people.

We had 425 people sign up this year, including virtual runners, and had 275 runners show up on race day, which we were thrilled with, with having cold, windy weather!”
