Families from across the state lined up in Piedmont Saturday, many in turkey costumes, as they ran and walked in a fundraiser for foster families.
Andy Field, Braxton, Angel, 4, Phoenix, 5, Necole, Steven, 10, Michael, and Lorinda Field, all of Gurthrie, drove to Piedmont to run in their first Turkey Trot.
Lorinda Field said they chose the Piedmont fundraiser since they help raise foster children.
Dressed as New England Patriots were Erin and Zack, Carter, and Noah Hurwitz, of Edmond took part in the one mile fun run with their dog Jules.
Temperatures were in the low 30s by the time the fun run started from Monroe Avenue with a brisk wind and partly cloudy skies.
Graysen Grove, 9, of Piedmont, wore a turkey costume. Before the race she was found next to a real turkey that showed up for the event.
Colter Karber, 13, Tiffanie Karber, Maddie Bullard, 15, and Lara Vetoyanis of Piedmont, were found at the starting line in costume.
More than 350 people signed up for the live fundraiser this year.
The Turkey Trot is a fundraiser for Bright Sky Ministry for essential needs for foster families in the state.
