Piedmont’s Karissa Fiegener is headed west to play college softball.
The junior shortstop committed on Wednesday to Grand Canyon University, a Division-I school located in Phoenix Ariz.
Fiegener is batting .528 with nine home runs, 42 RBIs and 15 stolen bases this season. She plays shortstop for the Lady Wildcats, but likely projects as a catcher at the next level.
GCU finished 19-30 last season.
Piedmont (29-6) begins the regional playoffs Thursday in Piedmont.
