The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will be in Piedmont Saturday, Oct. 2.

The circus is coming back to town.

Piedmont will welcome the Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus Saturday, Oct. 2.

The show times are 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

A free tour of the circus grounds is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday when people can meet the circus animals. The public is invited to watch the tent-raising.

The circus will be set up just south of Piedmont Roundup Club at Piedmont Road and N.W. 164. The circus animals will be there for visitors at the tent-raising event.

An hour before the shows will be pony rides, a moon bounce, concessions and more.

Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for those ages 2 to 12 years-old and for those age 65 and older.

Tickets on the day of the show are $15 for adults and $8 for others.

Advanced tickets are on sale at Williams Foods, City Stop and Mirror Mirror Boutique.

The tent will open 20 minutes before each show.

The Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus started in 1985 under Robert Johnson, Jim Hebert and Curtis Cainan in Queen Creek, Arizona. In 2001, new ownership moved the base of operations to Hugo, according to the circus website.
