Piedmont softball wins Norman North Tournament Title

NORMAN – Piedmont’s softball team outscored its opponents 26-4 while cruising to three straight wins and a title at Norman North’s tournament this weekend.

The Lady Wilcats beat Norman North 9-4 today to take the crown after beating Dibble 12-0 and Norman North 5-0 to open the event.

Tayvin Davis, Peyton Gray and Addison Cassady had three-hit days for PHS in their 9-4 win over the T-Wolves.

Gray, Tylar Short, Paige Atha and Kaylie Rocco had two RBI’s apiece.

Addison Underwood earned the win in the circle by pitching 3.2 innings while allowing three runs, two earned on six hits. She had one strikeout and one walk.

Hannah Nieuwenheis pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed one run on two hits.

Piedmont 5, Norman North 0

Piedmont scored five runs in the first two innings led by Karissa Fiegener’s two-run home run in the second.

That was more than enough for support for Nieuwenhuis, who pitched a complete game while striking six and scattering two hits in six shutout innings.

Piedmont 12, Dibble 0

Taybor Moss drove in three runs and Underwood pitched four shutout innings as the Lady ‘Cats led 11-0 after three innings.

Piedmont (8-1) will host Guthrie on Tuesday.
