Piedmont’s Heindselman wins gold medal at Pan-American Games

Piedmont native Josh Heindselman won a gold medal for Team USA’s junior wrestling team at the Pan-American Games held in Oaxtepec, Mexico, last week.

Wrestling at the 125 KG (275 pounds) weight class, Heindselman earned a first round forfeit then romped to two consecutive victories by pin to earn gold.

The USA secured the team title with 230 points. Mexico was second with 129 points and Canada took third with 123 points.

Heindselman was a redshirt freshman on the University of Oklahoma wrestling team last season and earned a berth to the NCAA tournament with a fourth place finish at the Big 12 Championship.

He finished the regular season with a 7-3 record for the Sooners, including a 2-0 mark in Bedlam duals.

Heindselman was a two-time state champion and an All-State selection at PHS.
