Lady Wildcats win Newcastle basketball tournament

The Lady Wildcats basketball team brought home the Otho “Sweet Pea” Curtis Invitational Tournament title Saturday, Jan. 23, winning three games in the tournament as the team has moved up to a third place ranking in Class 5A.

Delanie Crawford was the Tournament Most Valuable Player. Khloe Carr and Triniti Harmon made the All-Tournament Team

Piedmont opened the tournament Thursday, Jan. 21 against Deer Creek’s Junior Varsity girls, winning 82-24. Friday, The Lady Wildcats faced Edmond Santa Fe from Class 6A, and they won by 10 points 50-40.

On Saturday, Piedmont defeated Lawton MacArthur, 57-46.

In the win over Edmond Santa Fe, Triniti Harmon had 18 points. Delanie Crawford had 16 points. Kloe Carr had 11 points. Jillian Crawford had three points and Lani Sanders had two points.

In the championship game against Lawton MacArthur, Delanie Crawford had 18 points. Triniti Harmon had 13 points. Jillian Crawford scored 10 points. Kloe Carr had nine points, and Lani Sanders had five points. Lillie Atalla had two points.

The team is ranked #3 in Class 5A by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association.

The next scheduled game is Tuesday, Feb. 2 at El Reno.
