Piedmont’s three Friday night events in December during “A Piedmont Country Christmas” were successes this year, said city spokeswoman Louanne Trammel.

Crowds showed up on Monroe Avenue for the annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting on Friday. Dec. 4. The Christmas tree was sponsored by Scott Farms & Family, the Trammel Family, the Holcomb family, First Baptist Church of Piedmont, Mayabb Plumbing, Rock ‘n M farm, and Mayor Kurt Mayabb.

On Friday, Dec. 11, the city hosted, “S’mores Christmas.” Shawn Shropshire portrayed Santa Claus in the parade that went down Monroe Avenue. Tom Swenson played the Grinch. A mule-drawn wagon was driven by Trey and Tyler Cornman.

The final event was Friday, Dec. 18 with “A Grand ol’ Christmas” on Monroe Avenue. A mechanical bull drew a long line of people who wanted to find out how long they could hang on. Piedmont Community Development Director Scott Garnand portrayed Kris Kringle.
Piedmont’s spokeswoman Louanne Trammel said the events were uplifting for the City of Piedmont.

“All three of our Country Christmas events were a success. I am just happy that we could bring some joy to our community this holiday season,” Trammel said.
