The Piedmont Wildcats defeated Woodward 35-7 Friday at Woodward.

Decata Warrior intercepted the Boomers early in the game and returned the ball to the 9-yard line of Woodward, setting the tone for the night.

The Wildcats were able to capitalize and punch in the first score of the game.

The Wildcats went up 28-7 on a TD run by Brock Detar in the fourth quarter.

Piedmont led 21-7 at halftime.

Woodward received the ball to open the second half. And the Wildcats gave up a long rushing play. A penalty against Piedmont helped the Boomers march into Wildcats territory. But another Woodward turnover halted the Boomers drive.

Brock DeTar then made a 30-yard scamper into Woodward’s side of the field. Piedmont had the ball on the Woodward 10-yard line after a penalty moved them back. Caden Hendren lost yardage on a pitchout to the right.

Preston Fansher then missed a 27-yard field goal and Woodward took over at the end of the third quarter.

The ground game continued to work for the Wildcats with runs by DeTar. The offense drove into the red to the 26-yard line where quarterback Levi Davis almost hit a touchdown pass, but the ball fell off the receiver’s fingertips. The next play though, Brock DeTar scored on a 26-yard run down the left side.

Joey Mars added another touchdown on a long run and Piedmont went up 35-7.
