Piedmont’s cross country dominance is starting early these days.
The seventh grade girls team opened the Mustang Harrier Invitational meet Friday morning at Wildhorse Park with an overall first place finish.
They were followed by the seventh grade boys who finished first overall.
The eighth grade girls team was clipped by Deer Creek to finish second, and the eighth boys team finished fourth Friday, Aug. 28.
The high school teams competed Saturday night at Wildhorse Park in the meet night run against schools from around the state. The varsity girls won the meet and the varsity boys finished second.
The junior varsity girls won overall and the junior varsity boys were fourth.
The junior varsity girls in the night run at Mustang were led by first place finisher Sierra Cantrell, ninth grade, 23:05 and then finishing in fourth place, Kamryn Holland, 11th grade, 23:35, fifth place finisher was Braxtyn Turner, 23:39, eighth place finisher, Julia Woolery, ninth grade, 24:02, and in 10th place, Frankie Bradshaw, 12th grade, at a time of 24:07.
On Friday, in seventh grade, Kira Dankenbring finished third individually. Evie Blankenship was fifth, Kenley Crawford sixth, Lillian Toole 10th, and Maci Bird 13th. Brooke Collins was 15th and Cami Bray 20th, and all earned medals by finishing in the top 20.
The seventh grade boys were led by Nelin Kimery who finished fourth. He was followed by medalists Jackson Scott eighth, Levi Ross 10th, Beckam Humes 11th, Ethan Lam 11th, Jaxton Finley 14th, and Landon Jones 18th.
The 8th grade girls finished as runner-up.
Lily Scheck finished second in the individual standings. Makinlee Selph came in sixth place.
The other scoring runners were Maya Daniels in 18th, Melaina Hartfield in 20th, and Anna Kishman in 29th.
The 8th grade boys finished the day with a 4th place finish.
Cohen McIntosh led the charge with a second place finish. Landry Finch finished 5th, Tyler Vu was 33rd, Addison King was 35th, and Coleman Smith was 48th to finish out the scoring.
