Yukon Pediatrics has signed a letter of intent to merge with Variety Care, Inc.
Variety Care Inc., the state’s largest federally-qualified health center, will acquire Yukon Pediatrics through an ongoing expansion initiative designed to increase access to comprehensive health care services in Oklahoma, according to a news release from Variety Care Inc.
Yukon Pediatrics will officially reopen as Variety Care Yukon Pediatrics on July 1.
Variety Care is a patient-centered medical home connecting residents in central and southwestern Oklahoma to 125 professional health care providers and other health-related wellness programs. The merger is the latest in Variety Care’s long-term commitment to improve the state of health in Oklahoma, according to a news release.
For the past 30 years, Dr. Alecia Hanes has been at the forefront of pediatric care in Yukon.
“I look forward to helping parents enjoy the rewarding and challenging experience of raising a healthy child,” Dr. Hanes said. “Merging with Variety Care will allow my team to do more of what we love most—providing caring, affordable, and accessible health care options to the great people of Yukon. We are honored to stand by our commitment to Yukon families as Variety Care’s fifteenth location.”
Expanding access to Yukon residents is a major milestone for Variety Care, the news release states.
Over the past 87 years, the nonprofit has cared for more than 1.5 million Oklahomans.
Variety Care’s vision of expanded health care for all will have a lasting impact on the community of Yukon.
“Dr. Hanes and her team have established a practice that brings quality care close to home for Yukon residents and is a great cultural fit for Variety Care,” Variety Care CEO Lou Carmichael said. “This merger creates another access point for new and existing patients to access care and brings us one-step closer to ensuring that all Oklahomans get and stay healthy.”
The clinic will remain in its current location at 508 W. Vandament Ave #210. All medical providers and staff members will be retained during the merger.
The decision to extend Variety Care services to the Yukon area is a significant achievement in our expansion initiative,” Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Tim Reddout said.
“This merger allows us to immediately impact the care of nearly 4,000 patients. The next logical step in our business strategy is to expand additional services to the Yukon area including family medicine and behavioral health services.”
