A request for an audit over the purchase of two used pickups by Piedmont city staff has been made by city council members, and the question has been turned over to the Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector’s office.

Mayor Kurt Mayabb in March requested the city’s purchase of a $25,000 pickup and a $33,000 pickup, used by the Piedmont building inspector and public works department, be more closely examined.

The request for an audit was addressed in a special meeting in March 4, but no action was taken.

Meetings were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the request for an audit was not made until late April.

Piedmont’s city council members requested the city attorney draft a letter requesting the audit that has been sent to the state auditor’s office, Mayabb said.
