A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Thursday night for storms that are possible of producing large hail and high winds across Central Oklahoma, including Canadian County,  the National Weather Service reported.

The watch was issued until 3 a.m. Friday.

There is an 80% chance for rain. Wind gusts could be up to 80 mph with heavy rain and baseball size hail.

The Piedmont area forecast follows:

Thursday night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Low around 52. South wind 10 to 20 mph becoming north after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
