Canadian County Sheriff Chris West has canceled all jail visitations and changed procedures for attorney and inmate visitations due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The decision was made to protect the jail population and jail staff from any potential contamination of COVID-19 at the Canadian County jail in El Reno, West reported Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office has also halted all processing of gun permits and finger-printing until May 1st.
“I’m asking the public to bear with us as we do our part to protect our jail population, jail staff and other Sheriff’s Office employees from COVID-19, so that we can continue to serve and protect the citizens of Canadian County,” West said.
