In the resumption of a suspended game from April 19 that was picked up in the bottom of the fifth inning, Hunter Chism singled home Bryce McDermott in the eighth inning to provide the game-winning run.

Following the Chism single, the floodgates opened and Piedmont (23-9, 12-2) scored four more times on a two-RBI single from Tyler Rother and a two-RBI double from Gabe Griffith.

Ty Anderson, who started the original game, finished his work Wednesday, scattering four hits without allowing a run to finish with a complete game five-hitter. Anderson worked around a one-out error in the eighth to seal the win.

With the win, Piedmont stays in the race for a district championship. If Shawnee sweeps district leader Guthrie, Piedmont wins the district.

Next up, Piedmont travels to 4A No. 1 Blanchard Saturday for a noon first pitch.
