While the high school swimming season has been officially over for a few weeks now, the accolades are still coming in for Piedmont’s most successful swimmer.
It was recently announced that senior Kasey Rein was named as one of the Class 5A All-State swim members for 2014.
Rein will compete at the All-State swim meet which will be held in July at Jenks High School just outside of Tulsa.
“I’m very honored to have been named as an All-State swimmer,” Rein said about the award. “I’m also really excited about the chance to compete for the West side in the All-State swimming meet. It’s something I’m really looking forward to.”
Rein finished her high school career with five state championships to her name, making her one of the most successful Piedmont athletes in history.
After having some time to reflect on her accomplishments, Rein said she’s had a lot of fun as a high school swimmer, but did admit there was one thing she did miss during the process.
“I didn’t realize how much I missed out during my freshman year by not having a team,” she said. “Other than that, high school swimming has been such a blast for me. I’ve just been very blessed to compete at this level and do so well.”
Rein also admitted she is nervous about competing next to 6A swimmers who will be there at the All-State meet, but said she’s mainly looking forward to having fun with her friends from other schools that will be there as well.
“There’s going to be some very talented 6A swimmers in the mix along with 5A,” she said. “I’m a little nervous about that, but I also want to have a lot of fun with my friends from other schools that are going to be there. It should be fun getting to compete against my friends.”
