With the 2014 soccer season just around the corner, the Piedmont Lady Wildcats got some bright news last Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Morgan Wilson made it official she will play soccer at the next level, after signing her letter of intent to play at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha.
“It’s kind of felt like my birthday all day to be honest,” an ecstatic Wilson said following her ceremony. “Just because everyone has been talking to me and asking me questions. Everyone just kept coming in and it really took my breath away with how many people were here. I’m super nervous but super excited at the same time. I feel like I’m ready.”
Wilson added that there were several factors which persuaded her to choose USAO over other choices she had in front of her.
“The school in general is small, and I liked the environment on campus,” she said. “When I went down for my visit then the girls on the team were really nice and cool with me. The coaching staff was also very nice and made me feel very welcome.”
Piedmont coach Brad Brucker had nothing but praise for his first Lady Wildcat college soccer signee.
“This is really exciting for us on a lot of levels,” he said. “When half the school shows up for something like this, it says a lot about how much they respect Morgan and really enjoy being around her. I hope this is the first of many players to sign to play. I’m so happy for Morgan and her family, and she has been a great leader for us.”
“She’s one of those glue kids that keeps everyone together, and one of the big reasons I’m excited for the upcoming season.”
