Brady Meyer, a third grader at Piedmont Elementary, recently won five first place medals at the Boys Dynamo Classic on Saturday, Jan. 5. He won the high bars, rings, floor routine, parallel bars and the all around medals.
“It’s fun,” Brady said. In addition to the events he medaled in, Brady also competes in the vault and pommel horse. “I really like the high bar and floor.”
Brady goes to practice at Dynamo Gymnastics, which is located at Hefner and Rockwell in Oklahoma City, three times a week. He has been involved in gymnastics for around six or seven months.
“My sister started doing it and it looked fun,” Brady said.
“We had just put our daughter Catie in,” Tracy Meyer, Brady’s mom, said. “He said he was interested and he was there just four weeks and his coach asked him to be on the team.”
The Dynamo Classic was Brady’s second competition. He also competed at the Bart Conner Meet on Dec. 1, where he brought home a medal.
“I really like the routines,” Brady said. “I like doing the floor routines and flipping.”
Brady is coached by Binh Le at Dynamo Gymnastics.
“We are so thankful to our friends and the businesses in Piedmont who sponsored Brady,” Tracy Meyer said. “They have really helped him out.
Brady’s dad is George Meyer and he has numerous relatives in the Hydro, Weatherford, Eakley and Colony areas. Brady’s grandparents are Robert and Glenda Taylor of the rural Colony area.
