Piedmont led 21-0 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Piedmont ran away with the game. The final score was 48-7.

A fumble recovery by Piedmont’ Jesse Knapp at their 42-yard line led to a 25-yard TD run on a pitch sweep to Carter Hainrihar for the first score. Mikah Rocco intercepted a Ponca City pass, setting up a 34-yard touchdown run by Piedmont’s Jayden Fuston.

The score was 14-0 at the half.

The Piedmont Wildcats earned the opportunity to play Sand Springs in the second round of the State 6A-2 Playoffs..
The story of the night was the Piedmont rushing attack.  Two touchdowns each by Jayden Fuston and Knoxtyn Rollo, one apiece for Carter Hainrihar, DreAndre Bruton and Brooks Baccus.  Noah Ward added 6 extra points and the rout was on.  Quarterback Grayson May only threw it a handful of times as Ponce City had no answer for Piedmont’s running backs.
The defense was stout with 2 interceptions by Mikah Rocco and Knoxlyn Rollo who was making plays all over the field.  Ponca City was able to muster one late touchdown, but the game was already well in hand.
The Wildcats will travel to Sand Springs next week to take on the Sandites who had a first round bye.  Read the Piedmont Surrey Gazette for full coverage of this game and a preview of the round 2 matchup with Sand Springs.
