Piedmont’s XC Coach Kelly Beck to step down

A cross country coaching career runs its course, but not before five state championships

A cross country coaching career has run its course, leaving a lot of milestones along the way for the Piedmont High School programs.

Piedmont High School cross country and track Head Coach Kelly Beck has decided to step down from coaching duties, and his retirement announcement as head coach has been approved by the school board. Beck also teaches AP history at the high school. And he has coached the middle school cross country teams.

Beck will stay aboard until the end of of the spring semester May 23, 2025 to coach track.

A Facebook post by the Piedmont Athletics and Activities page reads, “What a career! Thank you for your leadership and investment in our student-athletes, Coach Beck!”

Beck’s coaching achievements at Piedmont HS are listed here:

Five state championships (3 boys XC, 1 girls XC, 1 boys track).

Eight state runner-ups ( 4 boys, 3 girls. 1 track).

Fifteen regional titles (6 boys, 6 girls, 3 track).

USTFCCA Boys Coach of the Year 2018.

USTFCCA Girls Coach of the Year 2022.

National Federation of State High School Associations Oklahoma Boys Cross Country Coach of the year 2023,

National Federation of State High School Associations Oklahoma Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year 2018.

45 All Staters (27 XC and 18 track).
