A 16-year-old boy of Yukon died Friday, Oct. 25 in a fatality collision on Northwest Expressway at Cimarron Road 5 miles west of downtown Piedmont just outside of the city’s limits.
The boy, whose name was not released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in a report released Wednesday, was driving a 2014 Toyota Prius north on Cimarron Road about 11:50 a.m. when he failed to yield from a yield sign and was struck by a 2014 GMC driven west on Northwest Expressway by David Somerton, 79, of Yukon.
The 16-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to OU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by the medical staff, the patrol reports.
Somerton refused treatment at the scene and his passenger, Vicky Langdon, 70, of Yukon, was taken to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in good condition with a head injury.
Seat belts were equipped and in use in both vehicles, the patrol reported.
