The 20th anniversary of the Piedmont Public Library will be celebrated at a birthday party Saturday, Sept. 16.

September 3rd, 2000 was the day the doors opened at the library, 1129 Stout Road/ “Sept. 3, 2023, marks the 20th anniversary of the library opening its doors,” a post on the library’s website reads. “Let’s celebrate together. Join us for a birthday party!”

The birthday party is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 16.

Michelle Ferguson, the Piedmont Public Library director, said the celebration will be low-key.

“We’ve invited our past and present supporters to come out and have cake and conversation, nothing too elaborate,” Ferguson said.

She said the event will be a way for the library staff to “show their gratitude” to the community.

The library has served a growing need in Piedmont.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity to serve the community and we want to do it for another 20 years,” Ferguson said.
