Our beautiful mother, grandmother and G.G., Helen Ruth Blacklock, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
She was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Smithville, Texas, to Flem U. Rollins and Jewell (Tiner) Rollins. She married Morin Blacklock in 1946 in Ft. Worth, Texas. They enjoyed 60 years of traveling, love and laughter, before his passing in 2006.
Helen was an excellent cook, talented painter and seamstress. Helen experienced a lifetime dream when she and her husband visited the famous Louvre in Paris, France. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves many friends at Heritage Baptist Church and enjoyed being a part of the Prison Ministry there. Her family will miss her dearly but know that she is at peace and with her beloved Morin.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Hoss Cooley and Debbie and Bert Williams; grandchildren, Steve Cooley, Mindy Ohl and husband Darin, Kathy Scruggs, Jessica Lewis and husband Reece and Melissa Clark and husband Randall; and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Kansas Cemetery in Piedmont.
