The first edition of the Canadian County Clash – hardwood style – is set for Friday night when Piedmont travels to take on El Reno inside Jenks Simmons Fieldhouse.

The Lady Wildcats will face the fourth-ranked Lady Indians at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow afterwards about 7:30.

The 11th-ranked Piedmont girls (4-2) enter the game with some momentum after two consecutive blowout wins over Douglass and North Rock Creek. El Reno (5-1) hasn’t played since Saturday when it fell to Choctaw 52-47 in the championship game of the Harrah Tournament.

The No. 7 Wildcats, meanwhile, have won five of their first six and are among the hottest clubs in 5A, but so are the sixth-ranked Indians (5-1).

PHS on Tuesday won at North Rock Creek 72-62 behind 21 points from Ryder Anderson, while El Reno lost to Choctaw 56-55 last time out.

Though the series has been ultra-competitive in recent seasons, El Reno took all five games between the two schools last year.

After Friday, neither team will play again until January.
