After several twists and turns, Piedmont will remain a member of Class 5A for another year.

The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activites Association on Wednesday finalized its Average Daily Membership figures for the 2022-23 school year, with Piedmont landing at No. 33, one spot away from Class 6A.

Piedmont has an ADM of 1260.12, about 10 students shy of No. 32 Midwest City’s ADM of 1270.08.

In a previous version of the ADM, Piedmont was ahead of Midwest City, and tentatively set to join 6A, but the figures changed in the final days.

Piedmont’s girls basketball program and its boys and girls cross country teams could benefit from staying down another year. All three squads are expected to compete for state titles in 5A.

Piedmont’s wrestling and swim programs will continue to compete in Class 6A this season.
