A candidate for the Piedmont School board is ineligible to run since she does not live in the right ward, said Canadian County Election Board Secretary Wanda Armold.

Robyn Hopkins candidacy was struck from the race after a vote by the Election Board at Armold’s office Thursday.

Robyn Hopkins was one of four candidates to file for the Ward Two seat. The filing period ended Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Another candidate, Tamra States, 2016 Chestnut Circle, late Friday filed a petition to contest Hopkins’ candidacy, Armold said.

The petition stated that Hopkins, 451 Elm N.W., is a registered voter in Ward Four of the Piedmont School District boundaries, not Ward Two.

On Thursday, Armold made a motion at a hearing to strike Hopkins from the ballot, and the motion was seconded by Shirley Burton, Democrat Board Member, and Election Board Vice Chairman. Alternate Republican board member Lowell Dickerson also voted to strike her candidacy. The vote was 3-0.
