OKLAHOMA CITY – Piedmont did it again.

The Lady Wildcats got another strong pitching performance from Payten Schibbelhute and Karissa Fiegener scored the only run of the game on a passed ball in the first inning as Piedmont edged Pryor 1-0 to advance to Saturday’s Class 5A state title game.

It was Piedmont’s third win by one run over the Tigers this season. The Lady Wildcats will try for their second state title in three seasons Saturday at 2:30 p.m. vs. Coweta or Durant.

Fiegener led off the game with a double and scored from second on a passed ball thanks to some aggressive baserunning.

“We got a lucky bounce,” Piedmont coach Keith Coleman said. “Lucky I didn’t stop (Fiegener) from running from second.”

Schibbelhute struck out five, walked two batters and scattered four hits while improving to 14-2 on the season.

“Payten pitched her butt off,” Coleman said. “We know how good they are. We know how good their arm is in the circle.”

Pryor pitcher Brooklyn Stohler allowed just two hits and struck out 10 batters in seven innings.

PHS beat Pryor 4-3 and 8-7 earlier this season.
