Cases of COVID-19 have increased in Piedmont Public Schools as of Jan. 7.

With the fall semester underway, and classes in-person five days a week, district officials are tracking the number of COVID-19 cases.

The latest number of cases affecting students and staff members that have been reported to district officials were released Monday, Aug. 23.

The district has 4,901 students enrolled, and there were 34 students who have tested positive for the virus. Only one of the students had symptoms, district officials reported. There are 285 students recommended for quarantine.

The district had three staff members positive for the virus Aug. 23, quarantine was recommended for one staff member.

The breakdown of cases shows that Piedmont High School, with an enrollment of 1,286 students, had six students positive and 15 students recommended for quarantine.

The Middle School of Piedmont, with 796 students, had four students positive and 13 recommended for quarantine.

Piedmont Intermediate School, with 724 students, had eight students who had tested positive and 32 students recommended for quarantine.

Stone Ridge Elementary, with 566 students, had nine students test positive and 124 were recommended for quarantine. One staff member had tested positive.

Piedmont Elementary School, with 453 students, had two students positive and 29 recommended for quarantine.

Northwood Elementary School, with 446 students, had three students who had tested positive and 41 students were recommended for quarantines. One staff member was positive.

At the Piedmont Early Childhood Center, with 616 students, there were two positive cases and 31 students recommended for quarantines.
